Would go again….
Wonderful private facility in the Timbavati Reserve Wilderness. Stayed at the Main camp with my wife and friend for 4 nights while on a Guided Safari. Food was first rate and they cater for specific dietary needs. The staff were all excellent and went out of their way to ensure we were ‘pampered’ for every minute of our stay whether in the lodge or in the bush. We all agree that there would be absolutely no.hesitation staying there again
An amazing place
The lodge is very smart, staff very friendly and the safari were excellent with Brad and Lucky. So careful to our photographic objectives. Made a lots of efforts to satisfy us. A very good place to choose for safari photo
We visited Bateleur Main Camp at the end of December 2016 and had an incredible experience. Our guides “Doc” and “Lucky” and all the staff were amazing. Doc is so knowledgeable, passionate and calm that the experience couldn’t have been better. He taught us a lot about all the animals. I will never forget tracking a rhino by foot; the experience was breathtaking and thrilling. We always felt extremely safe thanks to the knowledge of the guides. Also a big thumbs up to Chris, Anita and the rest of the crew!
The best safari one can wish for
From the first second until the last moment we felt welcome in this beautiful place in the bush. All personal did their utmost to deliver the best safari experience to my family. We were lucky to see the big five from close by. All 4 game drives were different and fullfilling. I would recommend this place ro everyone who loves nature an is planning to do a game drive. Really if you are looking for a suitable location to start your big five experience stop looking, this is the place to be. Thanks Doc, lucky, whoosie, chris, anita and all others for this wonderful and humbling experience.
Great experience at Bateleur Safari
My boyfriend and I went on a 3 day Timbavati Safari and had an amazing time. The experiences were above all expectations and we were extremely lucky to spy all of the Big Five in one day! We saw plenty of leopards, lions, rhinos and elephants at a very close range which gave us memories for life in form of really good pictures! Bateleur is a small camp in the middle of Timbavati, and since there’s only a few huts at the camp you really get the feeling of living close by the animals, it was a very authentic experience. We were the only guests at the moment, so it felt extremely luxurious to have the camp all on our own and the people who worked there treated us like kings (great food).
Our guides Lucky and Doctor were amazing and incredibly knowledgeable, they really know the animals and they got answers on all your questions and more. We were very impressed at everything Doctor taught us about all the animals in the reserve, we know a lot more about wildlife after this safari. Every day at Bateleur felt like a new experience as we did so many different things and we even got the chance to track both a lion and three rhinos by foot!
I would definitely recommend going to Bateleur if you’d like to get a real safari experience with some of the best guides in Kruger. Thanks to Doctor, Lucky and Chris and the rest of the Bateleur crew.
Wonderful time at Main Camp
We had a tremendous 2 night stay, Doc and Lucky were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The camp is beautifully positioned on a dry riverbed with the most comfortable “tents” you will ever encounter. Game viewing was excellent and guides knowledge superior to any other we have been with. Thanks for a wonderful stay
Apart from excellent accommodation, food and drive safaris, the guys from Bateleur go much further to provide their guest with unique nature experience. Learning how to track leopards and lions on foot, learning about animals and plants and bush craft. An unforgettable experience.
Main Camp Experience – amazing
My husband and I took our respective parents (one set from Australia) to the Bateleur Main Camp for an ‘in the bush’ experience. Our overall experience at Bateleur Main Camp was superb, it was so well organised with meals and drives and the guys at the camp especially Doctor and Lucky were fantastic. Quite an eye-opener for the Aussies being so up close and personal with the game and we had some awesome sightings which was really down to Doctor and Lucky and the expertise in the bush. They were both so knowledgeable. We had a very enjoyable 4 days. The ‘luxury tents’ are very comfortable with bathroom and outside shower, all meals were delicious – especially the deep-fried pumpkin fritters!! We even found evidence that a leopard had walked past our tent twice in the night.
In the middle of the bush
I stayed for two nights at the Bateleur Main Camp. It really is in the middle of the bush. The first night I saw a hyena just in front of my tent and for dinner we had the elephants on the other side of the river bed. All game drives were excellent with fantastic sightings and very good explanations by our guide Doctor and his tracker.
The food was awesome – and to everybody’s taste.
Thanks again for two wonderful days!
Best of the best.
Bateleur has the #1 trackers in all Africa. This is not an exaggeration. You are able to learn about the African bush with hands-on experience and tracking. You cannot find these kinds of activities elsewhere.
